Material & Care

18k Gold Vermeil

Our gold vermeil styles are made with 18k solid gold carefully layered on top of 925 sterling silver. The finish is three times thicker than average gold plating, and far more durable.

Sterling Silver

We use certified 925 sterling silver which is made up of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals. The addition of other metals makes it far more durable than pure silver alone, with no compromise to colour.

Maintaining shine

It is still important that you follow our suggested care instructions:

  1. Your jewelry can lose its shine when exposed to air during a long period of time.

  2. Loss of shine or tarnishing is a natural process that can be recovered through a special washing (as described later on).

  3. We strongly recommend taking off your jewelry before going to bed, showering, or taking part in any physical activity.

  4. Exposure to certain chemicals or environments may compromise the integrity of your jewelry. This includes (but is not limited to): perspiration (sweat), perfumes/colognes, cleaning products, chlorine, salt water, or silver polish, etc.

Cleaning your jewelry

Mix a little soap with lukewarm water and rub the item with a soft toothbrush. Toothbrushes are perfect for cleaning jewelry with difficult-to-access corners. If dirt persists, carry out the same process in clean water. Important: gold-plated items require greater care. Rubbing too hard may cause loss of plating. It is therefore important that you do this gently in order to avoid any damage. A special silver-polishing cloth is a great tool to make your jewelry shine again, in the event that it becomes darkened over time. However, this technique will not remove any scratches or dents present on the jewelry.

Storing your jewelry
Your jewelry should be kept away from any exposure to sunlight or warm places, ideally in a padded jewelry box or tarnish-resistant bag. Living in a humid environment? Store your jewelry with a small packet of desiccant crystals to help reduce tarnishing. Keep your pieces in a dark, cool and dry place. You can also keep these in individual airtight plastic (polyethylene) bags. Never use rubber containers, as these can result in accelerated tarnishing and are likely to cause the jewelry to darken. Under no circumstances should you keep your jewelry in a bathroom or any humid locations. Keep in mind that Maniaver boxes are not designed to keep items in perfect condition for prolonged periods of time, as they are not airtight containers, and color alteration may occur due to lack of use.
Can I wear my jewelry every day?
Yes, our jewelry's designed to wear everyday. However, we recommend removing during activities like sports, swimming, or cleaning to avoid damage from impact, chemicals, or sweat.
Can I wear my jewelry in the shower?
It's best to avoid wearing your jewelry in the shower, especially pieces made from precious metals like gold and silver. Soap and water can cause build-up, and exposure to chemicals in shampoos and body washes can dull the finish over time.
